I own an 86' 300e and I'd like to put 18' chrome monos o it with a little lowering(only to clear the fender space) can anyone tell me
the bepth I can go and how much to lower so I don't start rubbing. any one know where to buy some of this without going outragous??? if anyone could give me some info ...please... tire size types of springs, suspension where to buy. and the deminsions of the rims that would fit would it be better to go with the 17" monos also I have a pair of pollished CLK 16" rims I bought but haven't put on yet I think I wanna go streight to the mono blocks so I could sell them or mabe trade those and the stock 15 hole 15" rims on the car with new tires and some $$ for the new ones. any info is greatly appreciated......

Ok where to start.
I own a 124 that is lowered and has 18s. I would stay away from the chromies, because they seem to have problems after about 2 years and need to be rechromed (do a search and you will see), and two I personally do not like the way chrome monoblocks look. If you are going to but 18s on a 124 I can guarantee that they will rub, unless you modify the fenders. You should have the fenders rolled after you get the wheels so clearances can be made big enough. I have not had my fenders rolled but I am going to do it shortly (I'll report back on that). The wheels will probably rub at the lower drivers side (see pic) this can be corrected by rolling the fender at this point as well. This pic does not look that bad, however the rubbing has rubber more off of my body cladding, I rolled the fender behind the cladding and now it works much better. My wheels also rub a bit in the inner fender lining by the struts. Seems like there is a lot to be done but it is not as bad it seems. My wheels are 18 by 8 w/ a 35 offset (not 100% on the offset). The widest I would go on a 124 would be 8 and 8.5 or possibly 9 in the rear, a 7.5 would be ideal in the front to eliminate the rubbing problems. If I had to do it again I would get the 18s in a heartbeat. My tire size is 225-40-18 this is the best tire size for the 124, and a 17 inch rim would be 225-34-17. If you can find a 18x7.5 wheel then some of the rubbing problems should not be there. I have Eibach springs w/ #1 pads all around, but if you are getting wheels put #2s in the front. My springs are great and do not affect ride very much. I also have Bilstine sport shocks, and would recommend them to all owners, they did reduce some of the rubbing, and they ride better than my old stockers. If I were you I would get 18s, they can be had from Tire Rack, look at the add above. Give Luke a call and he will help you out, they had the best prices I could find and very good service. They do not list 18 inch monos for the 124 but it can and has been done, you can order them from Tire Rack but they will try to talk you out of it because the computer says they dont fit. I hope I have answered all of your questions. Subman
