Hub Rings & Wheel Vibration

Hello MBer's,
A problem solved! I recently purchased a set of Artec 15's (AMG copies) with Michelin Pilots 195-60. After two balance jobs on a Hunter GSP 9700 I still got vibrations at freeway speeds. The technician recommended I install hub rings to the wheels to make them hub-centric. No more vibrations! Because a lot of aftermarket wheel hub bores are LARGER than a stock wheel bore that fits perfectly on the hub, a ring that fits in the oversize bore to match the hub is necessary. This way when mounting the wheel, it will be in perfect alignment with the lug bolts. Without the hub rings, alighnment may vary just slightly, enough to cause a vibration.

Thanks for info

E2.3 - Thanks for sharing your experience with us... chasing a vibration or shake in the drivetrain/wheels can be trying... glad to know you finally found your problem.

Luke - your reply, like some others you've posted, could be taken as pretty insulting. Not everyone has your experience base.

Exclamation concerned

i have a concern about your application.

if i have been informed correctly, MB uses a "hubcentric" wheel.

i was told that the this feature provides a supporting ring that takes a portion of the "loading" of the wheel, and that the bolts do NOT carry the entirety of the loading of the wheel. thus the feature is not ONLY used to "center" the wheel on the hub.

i would check to see that the rings you installed accomplish this feature.

as for luke, his employer is one of this sites sponsors. his reply did have a certain "tone" to it, but i bet he gets many calls or emails each day from the forums users seeking info only with no intent to purchase W&T from his firm. my experience with TR has been competetive prices on products that performed as promised upon delivery.

It wasn't meant to be even remotely insulting. The point was meant to encourage the use of out search funstion because that topic has been covered dozens of times
