1985 190d $2500

First $2500 Cash Takes It!

Greetings,
Here for sale is a 1985 MB 190D with 138K miles. Automatic transmission. Cruise control. Sunroof. Very solid. Non-smoker. Interior is in very good condition. New headgasket and timing chain done 3K miles ago. New battery and filters. Studded rear snow tires. I currently get about mid 30's per gallon. Great candidate for veggie conversion or biodiesel. The only reason I'm selling is to repair another Mercedes diesel.

All reasonable offers accepted. Please let me know if you'd like to check it out.
Thanks!

Trade or Offers

If you know of anyone with a 1992-1995 W140 "rod bender" I'd be interested in a trade.
Thanks!

Correct on the W201!!!

Is it true that there are 1986 W123's also? I have seen 1986 300Ds listed, and photos show a W123 (on autotrader.com, specifically.)

No... there were no W123's built after 1985.

Common logic would answer the question as he W124 replaced the W123. How could a W124 model ever be older than a W123 or built at the same time?

Those who post 300D's as 1986 models either are mistaking the model name for a 300SDL or are one of those people who have no idea what year model they own.

Thanks for the answer. But I didn't think it was quite as ridiculous a question as you make it sound.
I am aware that 124 comes numerically after 123, but since when are the numbers chronological? Was 201 not released before 124? I realize that it's not a replacement situation like 123/124, but they're not chronologically sequential.
Also, VW made the old Beetles and buses many years after the Golfs and Vanagons were introduced.
To answer your question of how a 124 could be built before or at the same time as a 123 - very easily! They could be built in a different factory. They could be built later but for a different market, like with the VWs. They could be built right along side of the previous models for a year as the transition occured (which is what it sounds like, since people here say there are 1985 124s.
Either way, I don't think that "124 is one more than 123" is an obvious and simply logical answer to my question.

Thanks. Good luck to mcguirjf selling the 190D.
