To answer my own question, it DOES seem to be a Euro car:

Doesn't seem to me like it's a Euro...I could be wrong though, I'm no expert, that's for sure..
It does however, look as if the rear bumper, is smashed inwards, something fierce..The vin, looks American, and a lot of the specs... Really the only thing outwardly Euro, that I can see, is the manual climate controls. |

I dunno, Nick. Look at the front bumper, climate controls, upholstery, etc... plus the dealer is listed as "Stuttgart" on the VIN sheet. Looks like a federalized Euro to me, but I've been wrong before!
Did you get that CE down in St Louis yet?

What's Euro to me:
- no console wood - no ACC - headlight vertical adjustment - no sunroof (might be wrong on this one) - rear headrests - crank windows - no turbo if it's an 82-85 - right side mirror - radio antenna in front fender Sixto 93 300SD 3.0 |

I don't know enough about these things, to really tell for sure. If you guys say it's Euro, I'll take your word on it. I just noticed a few American looking features about the car, and put in my two wrong cents I guess. I never even noticed, some of those details you pointed out, like the front fender antenna, and all of that. I saw wood on the dash in the pics, and I was even looking for stuff like that. I'm still learning here, so please bare with me...

It's a Euro, Sixto says....
In addition to the euro bumpers, unconverted kmh speedometer, the dial (not pushbutton) HVAC controls, lack of "DIESEL" script on the trunk, non tinted windshield, are all clues. Pretty conclusive, taken as a whole. And of course, the serial number is the final say. I'd guess the registered Importer at the time managed to slip it by with simply converting the headlights, and not very much more. Many of the Euro W123 diesels were pretty basic, non tinted glass,no AC, crank windows, no sunroof. MB marketers felt the US market wanted "loaded" cars, and most of them were very well equipped.

The VIN (WDB vs WDBA) says it is a Euro.

also a big clue is that the stop lever is on the IP. Not on the top of the engine casing
