Well disaster strikes again in less than a month

Daughter drives SE while SD is getting repaired from her rear end accident and SE has engine fire.

So if you are looking for a 126 Euro donor car with no rust cheap here it is -

Everything that was rubber or plastic under the engine is gone.

The only body damage is where the FD pried the hood open and of course from the fire itself.

I am not going to weep over how many dollars were thrown into the hyrdl. suspension rebuild or the complete rebuild of the brake system including booster and MC. This car is going to the best offer over $100 (scrap price)

At this time I don't want to PART THE CAR OUT it's to good a donor rolling chassis. The engine is (was) the high compression V8

I am sure everyone want to know how it caught fire.

Thou shall not just take a car out of shop that has hood up and drive to cash you income tax check. If it's in the shop there might be something not connected tight - LIKE A FUEL LINE

Engine fire prevention on 126's with V8 engine: the rubber fuel distributor gasoline lines (incoming-return) sit above the heat from the exhaust manifold; these lines tend to get brittle with age and can unexpectedly spring a gasoline leak; the high pressure on the fuel line and a hot exhaust manifold = instant combustion and after the fire starts in the engine compartment there is little that can be done to stop total disaster. For a good ounce of prevention change the rubber hoses on those lines! high pressure fuel line doesn't cost that much.

She is gone - The new owner says he will rebuild the damage under the hood. I wish him all the best.

He is a local wrench and moonlights over at my place occasionnaly. Said he always loved that car so we worked out a deal. He did a couple of projects for the car. Everyone is happy and I don't have to look at the car everyday now. I need to get him a good engine bay pic of a 500se. The FSM drawings aren't very good.
