Selling this 1980 Mercedes Benz 500SLC Light Weight Euro Coupe.This is one of a limited edition of 3000 light weight coupes that started life as a 450SLC 5.0 and then updated to the 500SLC.
They had been built by Mercedes Benz for homoligation purposes in order for them to go racing.

It is very fast and very powerful. This model comes in metallic silver blue with blue velour interior. Features include:

Velour interior
Manual crank windows
Climate control
16 inch Lorinser Chrome Wheels
Excellent Goodyear tires

Prior to my ownership, it had been sitting for a while so I replaced the fuel pump, plug wires, rotor, plugs and coil and ignition resisters. It now runs well but requires a little tuning (has a couple of flat sports).

It drives tight and fast but does need cosmetics to the interior and the body.

This car is very rare and will be very valuable once it's restored to it's former glory.

Right now I do know that it needs the following:

Interior work. The seats are torn and worn.
It's best to replace those with used seats or re-trim in leather
Gauge cluster. The temp, fuel and oil pressure gauge assembly does not work. It can be replaced with any unit from a 380, 500 or 560sl
Slight rust on the rear panel.

Price is $3200 firm. I had full intention of restoring it but I have too many cars right now and hence some have to go.

With all the manual features, this would make a great vintage rally car which was my intention

Bumping this up, adding more pictures and lowering the price to $3000.

Wouldn't take to much to bring this 500SLC fairly close to the level of this one on ATC for a fraction of the price.

I fired this old monster up today to show it to a potential seller. It has a rough idle probably caused by an incorrect fuel mixture but again once opened it, it hauls butt.

I don't think the seller seemed impressed until he got to drive it. Hopefully he's impressed enough to buy it because I am losing the storage where it's located.
