FS: 1985 300CD w/ low mileage
I'm looking to part ways w/ my 300CD. I no longer have the time to give it the care it needs. It's a California model and I'm asking $2500. So, here's the skinny:
The Bad - cracked windsheild and cracked dashboard in multiple places. I replaced the vacuum pods (5 total) behind the dash and in the process cracked my windshield and ruined the dashboard. It was a nightmare and I'm no expert. I did get done what I wanted to in replacing those old pods w/ new ones. but at a high price. I do have a black cover but never did put it on and I'll include that for you. -Driver side window shattered and needs to be replaced. I've managed to keep it dry by taping it closed with plastic. - No A/C. Yeah, that's bad, but there is a new compressor that was installed before I bought it and I have the receipt to verify. A $1000 job was done by the seller right before I had it shipped to me and when I got it, the A/C didn't work. Since the shop was in California and I'm in New Orleans there was nothing I could do. The mechanic obviously did a bad job. - Brake rotors and pads need to be replaced. I have these parts and I'll include them w/ the car. -The dashboard fiasco also pulled the plastic face off of the instrument panel and is held in place by the top of the dashboard. Also, the dashboard has never been fully put back in place and the front console panels(?) have not been put back in. In short, the vacuum pod replacement job broke my back as far as being a DIYer. -There is a rattle that I can't figure out. It comes from what seems to be the driver side of the hood/engine and happens when accelerating at 30mph. It's been there as long as I've had it (Sept.2010) and I'm letting you know because the previous owner didn't let me know. -Slight flare from 1st to 2nd gear. -Very minor rust spots. I took pictures of them. The Good -Low Mileage! Under 136000. Since I've owned it I've put on less than 12000 miles. -New starter, monovalve, and voltage regulator. Also, as mentioned above, 5 new vacuum pods behind the dash. - Oil and filter change every 3000-4000 miles, two diesel purges, and one transmission filter change since I've owned the car. I also did a valve adjustment about a month after I got it and will include those wrenches if you'd like them. In short, I did what I could to make sure the car was taken care of and kept in shape. I've attached five pictures. Please e-mail me (or message me your e-mail address) and I'll send you many more and respond to any unanswered questions you may have. Thanks, Daniel from New Orleans Last edited by dstreet; 09-09-2011 at 01:03 PM. Reason: Forgot piece of information |

WOW, how those pods made a easy $6k ebay car a 2k vehicle...why did you have to replace them?

I think you mean pods; the vacuum actuators that switch the airflow to the different vents in the climate control system. Likely 10 years is a good estimate on the lifespan of the little rubber elements inside the pods... My guess; yours might vary.
