FS: 1982 300D Euro
Granny Smith is for sale! I bought this car from Turbodiesel in 2005 and for most of that time it has just been sitting in my driveway. I've probably only put 10K miles on it in 9 years.
The stats 1982 300D European model Thistle Green color 236,000 Miles 4 speed manual Manual windows Electric sunroof that works! Manual ventilation controls that work Original AM/FM Cassette stereo works but speakers are crackly The good The mileage is correct. When the odometer stopped, I had the speedo and odo professionally reconditioned by Continental Automotive The engine runs perfectly The transmission is very good, but requires a slight pause with a light touch for 2nd gear The axle shafts are CarQuest from a few years ago and are in great shape Alloy wheels professionally straightened and now perfect condition Tires 2 years old with virtually no miles Exhaust replaced about 5 years ago Original euro bumpers and end caps in great shape The time warp green interior is in very good condition R12 A/C has never been converted The bad This car needs both front and rear windshield seals NOW! The body is not so great - there was a hit in the back left that was repaired before I got the car There is rust in the usual places. Almost all of it was there when I got the car, so it has progressed very slowly in Florida. The clear coat is gone from the horizontal surfaces. Other items of note A/C worked great as of a couple years ago but has a refrigerant leak. I have a stash of R12 but am trying to be responsible and not keep charging it. There is already interest in this car and the weather is not cooperating with my schedule, so i couldn't even wash it before taking the pictures. Extra parts Brand new in box front valance sheet metal - the center section and 2 corners. These are the genuine article from the dealer. If you want, my stash of various 123 parts and filters. They will fit in the trunk easily. The price $1500 firm The pictures

Last batch. A couple items to note - the dash is about as cracked as you'd expect for a Florida W123. Sorry it doesn't show in the pictures.
The Optima battery will not go with the car but the one going with it is perfectly good. A couple requests - please don't ask me a million questions about the cars history or maintenance. It's way under priced for what you're getting and it runs great. If you're using it as a donor, then fine. But if you keep the car whole, then I want it to stay green and her name is Granny Smith!

If you replaced the doors and frt fenders the last place for rust to hide would be the trunk and cowl area ,it would be an undertaking but this car is worth the extra effort. If done yourself ,I would guess around the cost of what the car sells for to restore the body , drive it around for 10 more years ,a bargain in my book.

I'd take it alone for the 4-speed and interior. The guys on this forum including myself would kill for that interior for their W123. Someone buy that.

A bit off topic but it's nice to see the Optima battery mounted on its side. I was into off roading years ago and they are popular among that crowd.

Bump - I'd like to send this car to a new home before the insurance is due again.

Does this car have a turbo engine or a non-turbo 617?
Either way it's a nice example for sure. |

Non-turbo, which means no oil leaks.
![]() But the car is not slow. I drove to a meet a few years ago along with a friend in a 300D turbo and Granny Smith had no trouble keeping up. She might even be faster (less slow, really) than a US spec car with turbo and autobox.

Finally sold to TheDon. I knew she was meant to be his all along; just had to wait for him to figure it out. He's already invested in it since he helped me change out the engine mounts.
