For Sale: 1984 300TD Turbo Diesel Wagon + WVO; Austin, TX $2000
SOLD SOLD SOLD! (For $1926)
Thanks for looking! Selling my 1984 Mercedes 300TD. Has a WVO conversion installed but is currently disconnected. Asking $2000 from forum members and am open to all reasonable offers. Car is in Gerogetown, TX (North Austin) I bought this car about five years ago and proceeded to drive about 120 miles a day, six days a week as my daily commute, plus lots of very long road trips. I put a LOT of miles on it, and it was rock-solid reliable. I rarely used the WVO veggie oil system, but when I did it worked just fine. Did regular maintenance, oil changes every 4000 miles using AMSOIL synthetics. This was my primary commuting vehicle, then it became my family's third "back up" car, and soon after that was not driven much. Every month or two I'd take it out, drive 50 miles around town running errands, but it simply is not used any more. NO RUST! this one is a survivor. Ok... there is a little surface rust at some scratches in the paint, as seen in the pictures, but that's it. About a month ago when I took it out on a longer drive this car started to get hot, I pulled over and I discovered the radiator was leaking, and had the car towed home. I had a new radiator installed. It however is still getting hot: once the car warms fully up the temp gauge shows 'spikes' of hot, as in it will be normal temp, then the temp jumps up to almost in the red, then normal, then hot again. I have not driven it enough since then to see if it stays hot or what is going on. We have been planning on selling this car anyway, so I decided to sell the car instead of investing more into sorting out what is going on. Because of this, please understand I recommend the car is towed to its next destination. I have a THICK folder of receipts and maintenance records, plus a handful of spare parts, extra oil filter, etc. The car has new rear tires. the front tires are a few years old but with good traction. New radiator 12 month old battery Nice bike THULE roof rack + factory roof rack no radio A/C does not work Odometer went out about 1.5 years ago and I probably drove about 10,000 miles since then, but not sure. rear suspension leaks Steering and suspension have always been 'soft' but I think it drives just fine. Starts easily and runs well. Does zero to 70 mph in about 10 seconds. I usually get around 30-35mpg I don't see any smoke when driving. I used to casually cruise at 80 mph (with cruise control) on the Texas toll roads for my commute, and there were never any problems. Cruise control works and pneumatic locks work electric windows all work Sun roof 3rd row seat Veggie oil system. Short version of this is that all the stock fuel system is in place, and the veggie oil is auxiliary to it. It is plumbed in place, but not electrically connected (dash switch and two solenoids under the hood). The car ran exceptionally well on waste cooking oil, and even seemed to idle more smoothly. However, I really never used it - I was not really into collecting waste oil, though I loved the idea of having it there as an option. Please see the video of me driving the car around. I apologize for the poor quality of the video. https://youtu.be/bHuVzjJY_Ak Here are pics of the car: Thanks for looking. -Steve
