I'm guessing Europe is your best place to look. If you look in the EPC under the Euro models you'll see the part no's for the flywheel.
It's "volant" in French if that helps. I tried searching on Google and Ebay france with that and came up with nothing. I would guess because they're not worth much over there so no one sells them. Just have to find one in a junkyard and good to go. In fact...you're request motivates me to post on an MB forum and France and see what I can come up with. Will report back.

That would be apprecciated. My French speaking abilities are nonexistent. I do have access to one in England but it costs nearly as much as flying there.

How much? What's prohibitive in the cost, the shipping or the part?
If things go my way, I'll be in France starting Sept. of this year...maybe make a little side thing out of trolling junkyards for 617 manual flywheels..one for myself of course. I have enough of the auto on the TD.

I need to consolidate my vehicles ASAP and can't do it since the installer won't do the conversion without the 300D wheel. I keep missing opportunities to try locating one. |

hmm, yeah..that seems real steep. Shipping seems a bit on the high side even for international. If it can sneak on a ship would probably not be too bad.
First response from France says yes they are available at the junkyards...will wait and see if someone tells me which one.

Just pretend that you are a hot rodder and the 240 flywheel is just a lightened one. Your car will be faster off the line with it.

we used to do that with our Ducati's for a little extra umph...against the race regulations, but they had to open up the motor to find out ...didn't really make that much of a difference, at least not that I could tell.

How heavy is a flywheel on a motorcycle. I imagine it to look like a steel donut...mmmm
