WTB: 5sp manual for 300SD

I am looking for manual transmission for my 83 300SD that is NOT a $1000.
Also need clutch and clutch pedal and everything I need to complete conversion

You'll probably be looking for a long time. Those parts are among the rarest, and consequently, the most expensive. Only gray market W126 cars had clutches, and the driveshaft would have to custom made.

The odds of finding those parts along with a $1500 transmission are quite low.

good luck. some people have been searching for exactly that for years. the really good ones are always $1000+ and the sub$1000 usually need a rebuild.

thats the price of rarity.

Been looking at using a BMW transmission, which is an incredibly common part to do this kind of thing to a 300SD and that transmission's maybe going to be 500$, once shipping is thrown in.

Given your budget and the availability of parts, start with a 4-speed and upgrade if and when you find it. Same clutch assembly & flywheel problems for you without the huge pricetag.

If I was going to hack and weld it'd be for something REALLY common like a T5, which you can also darn near hand pick gear ratios for from all that are available.
If somebody made an adaptor, I'd buy one.
