Question Remote Ignition

I am looking to purchase a remote keyless ignition as a Christmas present for my wife and I am having problems finding which one, if any will be compatible with her car. We have a 2004 ML320. Does anyone know which brand might work? Thank you

Would like the same for our 2000 ML430.

I've heard it won't work, but find it hard to believe that someone doesn't have a system out there...

While I guess it is possible that it would work, you are asking for a nightmare. Even if you did want to give up a key (which you would have to do and leave it mounted in a ignition sensor transceiver under the dash) and wanted to got through having the wiring in the truck messed with, you are asking for problems down the road. A high end stereo shop I deal with regularly said he would not even try it on my 99 430. The security system and interlock system is so complicated, and MB is so tight lipped about what wire does what, he did not want to start cutting into it (and said I should not try either). It is the one BIG downside to owning an MB in a colder climate.

I don't think it can be done due to the rolling code in the key, may be wrong though. Find a shop that does installations of these systems and they should be able to answer one way or another. If you decide to let the same shop do this, ASK if they've done a 98 or newer Mercedes.
