230G to 240D Engine swap

Has anyone any experience with G-Wagon engine swaps? I am considering a relatively (Honest Honey) cheap 230G but am interested to know whats involved in swapping the engine out in favor of a 280, or possibly a 240D motor.
I wonder if my life would have been simpler if I just collected stamps or coins?

It would lots simpler.

You will not be happy with a 240D in that heavy hog. The 280GE is barely enough. I drove one for 111,000 miles in 18 years.

A 617A turbo diesel is probably a better bet. Drop me a note if you have more questions.

It can be done, but you're talking more money than it's probably worth.
