Here are some links to an independant oil study of Mobil one Vs Amzoil and others.
I've been using Amzoil for just under a couple of years and a big fan of same. Draw your own conclusions.

Change oil every 4000 miles

If you plan on keeping your car for a while i would change your oil every 4000 miles even synthetic. Im a Mercedes Tech. and all the cars that have been going off of the 10,000 mile intervals burn oil by 100,000 miles .
