Clicking sound when applying and releasing brakes

I have a 2002 ML 320 and every time that I apply the brakes at low speeds and release the brakes after a complete stop, I here a clicking sound. It also seems as if the brakes are not releasing right away. Any suggestions?

Most likely the brake pads are "loose" in the calipers. Using a brake-paste on the METAL part of the pad where it contacts the caliper should help.

Are they OE pads
