ML320 Fuel Door has rust. Replacement available ?

My 99 black ML320 has rust on the fuel filler door.
The rust came from under tha paint..not because of damage.

Ive been surfing for 2 hours trying to find a place to order one.

Even searching the forums, I cant find info. Anyone order one ?

Steve
IKChris - that site wants my credit card info just to look up a part number...I dont like free sites that want my credit card information.

UPDATE found it.. Fuel Door $75.21 plus shipping at trademotion.com Thanks.

Nobody but nobody is going to have a website listing "fuel door."

You can look up the part number using Mercedes' free parts system here
http://epc.startekinfo.com

There are online Mercedes dealers where you can punch in part numbers and then order, but if the part includes a color code it doesn't work. (Not sure whether these are available painted from Mercedes, but I suspect not)

Anyone who even jokes that you should go steal a mercedes benz part should be banned from this forum. This is a forum for owners to help one another. Beyond stealing being wrong, once you steal it that that guy is going to post how some jerk stole his fuel door and how can he get a new one! People helping people here, not people screwing others!

Back on the real issue, my door on my old 99 ml430 did the same thing. I ordered a spray touch up kit online and just sanded the paint off, ground off the rust, smoothed it over with body filler and repainted it. Chances are your door is structurally sound, it is the design of the stamping that traps water on the back side and lets the rust form under the paint. I doubt it is rusted through. The paint job does not need to be perfect (unless your truck is black) as the fact that the door is an independent piece in the fender plays tricks on the eyes and will hide flaws as the door gap will not let you truly compare the paint color or quality.

Thankfully, as I noticed on my new 2007 the first time I fueled it up, they have switched to a plastic fuel door to avoid this issue!

EPC site wants your credit card number simply to prove you live in North America.
