Engine Computer Swap?

Would an engine computer from a CLK55 work with a 1999 ML430? I ran across a parts guy selling one "pulled from a running car" and would like to know if it is compatible.

It is supposed to be part#031-545-1032 and was replaced by part#113-153-1579.

Thanks in advance!

NO, the engine computer is "married" to the VIN.

DOC, he has the vin from the donor vehicle. This is a new parts place that specializes in used MB parts. Is it a matter of needing a activation pin like the radio unit or would I need the entire engine as well?

Not that easy.. The computer systems are completely different between the cars & ML's.

That computer simply won't work on any ML!

If fact to make that computer work in any other CLK it would need to be "divorced" from the VIN & that takes a computer specialist. AS far as I know there is only place in the USA that can do that.

Oh well, it would have been a hell of an upgrade! Hey, how about an ML55 ECU?

Thanks DOC!
