Brake light messages

2006 ML350 I keep getting brake lamp left and brake lamp right and substitute bulbs on. I have replaced the lamps twice even though they ohm out good.
I have cleaned the removable sockets contacts and they work for a little while after that and then go out again shortly after that .
The bulbs always check good but the messages are correct the lights are not on! the substitute bulbs are confirmed on. Could this be a problem with the lighting electronic box that is back there behind the right wheel well???

This is a well known issue in the MB community. A simple wiring modification will fix it. Technical bulletin LI82.10-P-045622 includes the details.

Thank you, I will look that one up and get it fixed! man that was driving me nuts.I knew it had to be some sort of oddball glitch!

I found the tsb in a few places but no repair for it? Where can I find the wire repair info? Thanx John.........................................

Hmmmm......... You'll have to go to your dealer to buy the repair kit. Why don't you call and ask if they'll give you a copy of the LI document when you go there to pick up the parts? It includes the work instructions and even has a few pictures to make things easier.

When I go in to buy the parts kit I will talk to one of the service writers I know ,and I'm sure he will print it up for me.
