2013 ml350 Transfer Case leak

I took my wifes car in for a check engine light diagnosis and minor B service. It has 32,500 miles. I told the SA there was a slow oil leak somewhere, as I'm seeing a few telltale drops in the garage.

I'm now told the oil is coming from the transfer case, and a new gasket had to be ordered.

I'm curious if this is a common issue. This ML has the enhanced ORP with low range & lockable differentials.

Its not that common really, i have seen maybe 1 or 2 transfer cases leaking on a w166 in the past 2 years or so. The ones i found leaking where leaking from the output shaft seal.

The service receipt called it
"INPUT FLANGE ON TRANSFER CASE SEAL, Transfer case remove/install"
Part #014-997-13-46

I'm hoping they were correct, and that I will no more oil drips on the garage floor.

On another point, I'm rather offended to see my cost on the oil & air filters have gone up in price by 60% from 2013 prices.
