CoyoteStarfish, have you swapped the engine as the result?
I am wondering this could be done or not.

anything could be done,a inline engine would have less vibration, maybe use a sprinter engine.A better transmission than this electric junk.

The V6 config is the key. Inline is defintely longer. Find a CDI for the swap. Ought be easy then.

I don't know if this is too old of a topic, But I too am thinking of doing a ML320 to om606 or om603 swap...
I've done some research on the topic and know the problems I could be getting into trying to put a very long engine into such a small engine bay.
My thought is, if I could get it to fit physically onto the transmission (swapping a 722.6 diesel bellhousing onto the ML's transmission) and mount up with the ML430's driveshafts and trans mount; I could move the rad out of the way (put it on the roof or something) and there would be enough room to put it under the hood..
Any input would be helpful.

Ah, just skip the radiator, covert to air cooled, and make it a double decker.

I'd rather not try something which seems to have a lot of pitfalls. I'd try to sell it and buy what you want or replace the engine with one that is identical. The straight six into where a v6 resided seems intuitively wrong....never mind all the FWD issues and don't et me started on electronics.

But I am an old man stuck in the mechanical century.
