ML320 Window Switch Relaced

A week ago I reported the driver's window on my ML320 was slow to come up and when it did it sounded as though the motor was straining. With your help, I ordered a new window switch which I replaced yesterday in about 15 minutes. I haven't "repaired" the original switch yet but plan on doing that soon. Thanks to your help...total cost $36. The dealer wanted $95 to diagnose the probelm. Happy New Year!!!

You're right, except a measley $95 doesn't even begin to cover the cost of all the sage advice you dole out here. To borrow a phrase from the X generation, "you da man Gilly." Thanks again.

I missed this one earlier ....

When I bought my 91 350 SDL, the driver's switch was very sticky and within a few months stopped working.

Swapped switch with rear seat switch (they were identical) and was getting ready to buy a new one when I noticed it was possible to disassemble it .. pulled it apart - WAY COOL SWITCH! "Retentioned" the spring, cleaned it well and lubed with extremely light oil - looked like there might have been a bit of coffee in the switch! Still working 4.0 in the back seat - it gets about 0.05% of the use.

George, I fully intend to go back into the old switch and tinker with it to get it working again. My challenge is this is the wife's daily drive and she needed the window to work so the easiest thing to do was replace the switch and get her going again. She absolutely hates to drive the E class. She says it sits too low to the ground and can't see what's coming up ahead of her. We've all heard that one before, haven't we??
