Exchanging Grill - How to disengage hood release extension?

I am about to replace my front grill.

It looks like I would have to disengage the hood release extension (in the middle where the plastic meets the metal), where the spring is located.

How can this be done without damaging it?

Thanks for your help.

Thumbs up not necessary...

Installation is simple, just unscrew 10 black phillips screws, than after all the screws are out, put it out and turn it vertically, latch is not required to be pulled out. install in reverse. You just saved yourself from 1 hours labour at MB =) $100//hr hehe

Take extra precautions to make sure you don't accidentally let the hood shut while you are doing the install. It's a bear to get to the release mechanism when the hood latch is removed while you are installing the grill!

This happened to me while installing a bug guard. It uses some of the same screws the grill is attached to, and my install took an extra hour because I had to get a coat hanger to fish around for the release catch!

what luck you have...

to prevent this you can always put a 2x4 inbetween the fenders and the hood.. so if won't lock you out! btw: it took me less than 5 mins to install =P HEHE
