Hella DE foglights for 2000 ML430

Anybody have any experience with the Hella DE fog light kit and a 2000 ML430? I see by the multitude of posts on having the switch "enabled" that it isn't just a simple matter of plugging them into the wiring harness behind the front bumper. The kit is marketed by Performance Products and comes with a bracket already.
Thanx as always, Jeff

Hella DE

I bought the same lights from performance products and installed 'em myself. Very easy to install and hookup. You do have to have the dealer enable the foglight button on the dash, they charged me $45. What did not work properly is the blue light on the dash board showing the foglights are on. So if the lights are activated there is no way of letting if they really are on or not.

Yeah, they have to go into the instrument cluster and also program that for the green light to work. When I was at the dealer, we'd normally do the programming for free, it's not that big of a deal to do it.
But personally, I'd rather leave the instrument cluster not programmed, as the green light in the dash is actually kind of irritating. Plus the foglight automatically go off when the ignition or lights are turned off, so it's not like you'd be running around with them accidentally turned on.

I bought the kit from them and installed it on my ML a couple of year ago. Nice kit, everything fits like a glove, including the harness.

The dealer set the AAM code on mine for free!

I asked to have the green light set on mine but was told it didn't exist on my model.

I'm pretty sure it's only 98's that you couldn't get the green light to work. Maybe they didn't know about it.
