ML dim instrument lights
My 2001 ML 430's dashboard instrument lights are suddenly dim. ML only has 46k miles on it. I can't seem to find any dimming switch on the dash. Does anyone know what has caused this and is this someting that only the dealer can fix?

There are 2 knobs which protrude through the instrument cluster lense, located roughly on each side of the odometer. The LEFT one is rotated to vary the brightness of the instrument illumination. Another way to describe the location is between the fuel gauge and speedometer. Turn it clockwise (right) to increase brightness.

Thank you or the tip. I just went out and tried this and it worked. I guess my wife turned the knob thinking that it would reset the trip meter. I guess I missed this in the owner's manual.
Thanks. |

Don't feel bad, I had to wait for the owners manual to come in, 2 weeks before I had lights in the cabin of the vehicle, LOL. My wife was the only one driving it at the time, so she drove her BMW at night, and the ML during the day. Bought mine used from a friend, he ordered a manual for me. Thank God for owners manuals.

That's the one thing about Mercedes. They alway seem to do everything different from the other manufacturers. I still love these cars though.
