Question ML320 Headlamp Question

Sorry for such a trivial question, but one of my headlamps is burnt out on our '99 ML320 and I'd like to know if there is anything special I need to know before replacing the bulb.

1] Should I go ahead and replace both sides?
2] Is there something better than stock that I should consider?
3] Do I have to get the part from MB or just any parts store?

Thanks in advance Members!

I'm not a big fan of the aftermarket bulbs, or bulbs of increased wattage, so I'd replace just the burned out side. I'm sure "someone" will be along shortly trying to sell you the new style projector-beam bulbs, or the fake Xenon "blue bulbs" or a Xenon HID kit, but really, my advice is to replace your bulb.
You can buy the bulbs most anyplace, I believe they are H7 bulbs, but just remove the burned out one and go shopping-Pep Boys, Auto Zone, NAPA, whatever is closest or even the discount stores have them more than likely.

Thank you Gilly. I just picked up [1] H7 replacement....$16.95 each OUCH!

I also spoke with a friend and he said that he put higher wattage bulbs in his MB some time ago and they melted his lens'...he advised against doing the same....

Yeah..

The low beams for the 98-2001 are H7 and high beams are H1.. $16 for a bulb is too much, I can get them locally for like $5US each.. The new 2002+ low beams and high beams are both H7.. I had one customer who put those fake xenon bulbs in that was high voltage.. what happened was it got so hot it melted the plastic that was holding the bulb.. causing sparks and burn marks everywhere inside the headlamp assembly.. and both wires touched.. it was a big mess.. Plus Mercedes don't sell the bulb socket seperately.. he had to rip it off a headlight assembly.. Therefore its not a good idea to use those fake xenon bulbs, they're just gonna melt your wiring..

No, No, wait! Tabo, you're letting him get away! You can sell him a set of newer style headlights!

Its ok, I've sold over 100 of these adapters on EBAY.. 100 satisfied customers ^_^ I don't the actual ML500 headlights just the adapter kit to make them work.. shipping of the ML500 headlights will cost alot, so it will be cheaper for the customer to buy it from their local dealership... I sold the last set for $150US.. I have proof ^_^
