ML 270CDI - Brake Squeal
Generally, I've been pretty pleased with my 2002 ML 270 CDi. However, soon after purchase, the truck developed a high-pitched brake squeal.
Initially, I hoped that it would go away in time. However this has not happened. That squeal persists! The MB dealreship has tried to pass this off as "not unusual". However, (speaking as a complete non-techo), this surely can't be right? Is there a solution to this problem - and if so, what is it, please? Wld welcome advice! |

Surprised no one has responded to this as of late...
![]() Buy some "brake paste" available at most auto shops for under $10. It should be applied to the outer face of the pads (not the disc contact side) prior to installation. Forgot to do this when I did the rears on my ML and now they squeal a little. I replaced the pads on my W124 last year and they howled badly when making slow stops! So I pulled them off and applied the paste to the pads and the squealing dissappeared completely! ![]()
