Automatic trans. shifting question

Since I disconnected my battery to change my aux fan wire harness, my 1998 ml has shifted differently than it did before. The first time it is driven in the morning, it shifts at a much higher RPM than it did before the battery was disconnected. Once it is warmed up it seems fine. What is going on?
