ML 430 rear differential leak
my 200 ml430 with 32k miles rear differential has a small leak. there is a little oil on the case. seems to be coming down from where the right, or passenger, axle enters the unit. i know, 'its german, it leaks', but i intend to do some towing......is this one of those deals where you put the lube in until it spills out the fill port, or do i just drain it and put 347.25 ml of gear on in? there is no noise or probem (yet).

fill it til' ya' spill it.
also, the seals are not difficult to replace, although most shops will charge you an arm and a leg for labor. |

is it one of those deals where you pull the axle, dig out the seal, put in a new one, and re-stab the axle?

yeah, as long as you don't have to do the pinion seal you can leave the diff up there and just pull the half shafts.

Pinion seal can be done with the diff in place too. More than likely that will leak some day too.
