Fuse #44 Question

I know this is being talked about right now on another post but my question is when was this upgrade done? Like what year or how do I tell if I have the upgraded harness. My 2000 ml320 has 4 wires at the fan connector in the front 2 are brown and 2 are green. Is their any other way to tell. I know awhile back I took it to the dealer when it was under warranty and they said fuse 44 was brown so they just put in a 40 amp fuse?????? Any help would be appreciated.

Not being a tech I can't answer the color coding question but I do recall the service receipt from the dealer listed two line items when they did my upgrade last week. One line item listed "wiring harness" the other listed "fuse". You can call the dealer and request they fax you a copy of the warranty repair record on your ML to review the line items of past repairs (a good reference to have for your file in any case). I'm waiting to find out if you get a response to the color coding question as I'm curious now.

If you have the new harness the old one will probably be zip tied or taped to the new one. If that's the case you will see another connector not in use behind the one being used.

Dealer replaced my harness last September under factory warranty. The price of the harness was around $15.50. Total charge to Mercedes-Benz was around $150.00.

The recall applies to 98, 99 and 2000 ML320's and ML430's.
If you have a 98 or 99, you can assume it needs it, if it hasn't been done yet.
On a 2000, it applies up to VIN A145272 ONLY. If the last 6 of your VIN is HIGHER than 145272, it is fine, doesn't need this job done.
