intervals for oil change in 2000 ML430
Hey guys,
I know that the usual rule of thumb is 3 months or 3,000 miles whichever comes first, to have an oil change, but does that also apply to the M-class? or should i just look at the FSS, which says I have about 3700 miles left to go. Thanks, Riz |

We went by FSS for the first 4 years, and then we picked up a warranty that requires us to change at 5000 miles. 3k, 5k, 12k??? Who knows. Synthetic doesn't break down like dino does, but they both pick up combustion contaminants that the filter can't get rid of. MB has an 8 quart capacity, so the ratio of contamination to oil should be better than a 5 quart car. Who's to say how effective that logic is?

I go by 8K to 10K, which is in my case when the FSS shows about 2,500 to 3,000 miles to go. Anyways, there are extensive posts about this. If you do a search you will find more information than what you may want to read
