W124, US E320. Why did the weight increase?

E320 US curb weight.

1998: 3,195 lb 1989: 3,265 lb 1990: 3,315 lb 1991: 3,365 lb 1993: 3,525 lb

Why did the weight increase? Optional feature became standard feature?
