I need a GOOD flashlight.
 

I went throught 3 flashlights today and 1 yesterday. The 3 the died today were Maglights and the Responder died yesterday. The maglights are OK for lighting and the Responder is excellent but the bulbs burn out easy in extremes.

I used an LED flashlight tonight gutting a deer and it was OK I also used a Scorpian and that was excellent.

What is the best pocket size flashlight I can get. I use them almost daily so cost isn't an issue.

I like the PCa by Ikelite. Plus, it's waterproof.

Streamlite has a new LED mini that has a 10,000 hour lamp life. I can show you one next week when I come over your way for my post-op.

these two are exceptionally bright and hands free. great for hunting and such... and under U$50

I need one that will pick up blood I'm not too sure if the LEDS will pick it up well.

Underwater Kinetics (UK) has some REALLY nice ones that are reasonably priced. They are meant for diving, but look and feel just fine for normal use. The one I have uses 2- AAA batteries, this is how they make up the model numbers (2AAA). The one I have the batteries are in the normal end-to-end configuration, they also make side-to-side configurations in 2-AAA. I have one with a normal bulb, well, not LED anyways, I think it Xenon. HIGHLY recommend this brand, would be perfect for hunting. Do a search, or maybe I will do one quick for ya.

FWIW mag lights come with a spare bulb in the base, under the spring.

I also have a light intended for my bike. It has 2 high output quartz bulbs and a water bottle sized and rechargeable battery. The battery is connected to the light fixture by way of a 3’ long cord. The battery lasts about 4 hours with either bulb running. I sometimes use it when backpacking. I think it’s called a cryo-light

that's what i kind of figured thusly my two choices. you have to check them out to beleieve it. they have LED and Xenon bulbs.

K or W marts or maybe Galyans/Dicks have this cordless spot light with 1million candle power for about 50 bucks. I don't know how long the battery lasts but if you want some :sun_smile that may be one to check out then. you will need your hand but i think it has some kind of belt loop attacher for carrying.

for tracking downed deer you also have a few of other options though. (depending on you local laws of course) night vision, tracking dogs and maybe black light.

also, if you unscrew the bulb housing and place in on hard surface, "glass" down, you can place the body of the flashlight in it like a candle. i use it like that a lot in my tent. very bright.

My Mag light has been through hell in the last 15 years. Best I have ever seen, all bulbs will burn out, Led is the only other option. But it has limits too.

Like was said Mag lights, even the tiny ones carry a spare bulb in them.

you know i've alway've loved them too but the last two 2aa have been giving me fits. they just keep cutting out on me. i have to shake them and/or mess with the beam adjustment for them to work....grrrr...

A little greese on all the contacts keeps them from corroding and acting flakey.
