Police say teacher 'wed' 14-year-old girl in pagan ritual

We were discussing the quality of our education system the other day -- here is a startling example......

Quote:
SOUTH HAVEN (AP) -- A teacher and a 14-year-old former female student whom she is accused of sexually assaulting participated in witchcraft together and even "wed" in a pagan ritual, police said.

Elizabeth Miklosovic, 36, a teacher at South Haven's Baseline Middle School, was arraigned Thursday on a charge of first-degree criminal sexual conduct in Van Buren County.

If convicted, Miklosovic faces a maximum sentence of life in prison. She was ordered held on $100,000 bond and remained in the county jail Friday.

Also Thursday, the Kent County prosecutor's office issued arrest warrants for Miklosovic on charges of first- and second-degree criminal sexual conduct that accuse her of performing illegal sex acts with the student at the teacher's Grand Rapids home.

Miklosovic lives with another woman and their adopted son, authorities said.

The student told a classmate about the relationship and the classmate told school officials, who placed the seventh-grade language arts teacher on leave from her job. Miklosovic has worked for South Haven Public Schools for three years.

John Weiss, principal of the middle school, said he was surprised to learn about the charges. School administrators and counselors met with students and other teachers throughout the day Thursday.

"There have been a wide variety of reactions," he told The Herald-Palladium of St. Joseph. "There are 550 students and 550 reactions, it seems."

The student told Michigan State Police that she and Miklosovic had about five sexual encounters from June to October in the teacher's home, a park in Van Buren County and a state park in Manistee County.

Although the girl was in Miklosovic's class in the past, the sexual contact did not occur until this year, authorities said.

Miklosovic has no previous criminal record in Michigan, state police records show.

She declined to answer reporters' questions after her arraignment.

James Becker has been appointed as Miklosovic's attorney. Contacted Friday at his Paw Paw law office, Becker declined to comment about the case, saying he had not yet seen the police report.

The girl's family said Miklosovic brainwashed the girl into thinking the two did nothing wrong. A relative told The Grand Rapids Press that the family initially believed Miklosovic's interest in the girl -- who was described as vulnerable and as having emotional problems -- was to help her.

Detective Sgt. Diane Oppenheim of the state police post in South Haven said the student came to trust the teacher so much, she agreed to "marry" the woman in a pagan ritual.

"They also participated in witchcraft together," Oppenheim said.

Miklosovic's preliminary examination on the Van Buren County charge is scheduled for Dec. 13.

And this is why 1/2 the students can't identify where Canada is on a world map.

Sometimes I think the school systems are just looking for warm bodies. I had a peculiar experience with a teacher once. The school I attended was just a few blocks away from the grisly Richard Speck Filipino nurse mass murder incident. Of course, that was big news all over the country let alone in my own backyard. The day after the killings, one of my teachers stood before her entire class and explained to us that her good friend Speck didn't commit the crime, since she had spent that night with him. Talk about creepy -- a few kids and several parents complained of this incident to the principal but no action was taken that any of us were aware of.

Think back to the Early 80's , when Politically correct was becoming a big thing, and Corporal punishment was banned. thats when a slow downhill slide became a drop off a cliff.

THere was always dead beat parents...........Not teaching kids major events of the century is unthinkible. Blame the NEA and "Feel Good" programs. Then add in "revisionist" history, that is pure Science fiction , not fact.

Kids no longer being required to do what they are told, Not being required to dress to a standard dress code, Teachers that are blind to everything but their political agendas......Tenure that prevents them from being removed.

And an NEA whose sole purpose seems to be trying to convince the taxpayer that throwing cubic dollars at a broken system will miraculously fix it.

Catholic schools do far beter on 1/4 to 1/5 the total cost per student of the public system......and at at least there students are required to have something that resembles discipline, and not parade around like something that just walked in out of a halloween parade.

Missisippi is the only state in the country where wedding a 14 year old would be legal. And not involve statutory rape charges being filed. Unless they too have changed their laws.

At 14 yrs. of age there were alot of kids who experimented and explored everything to do with sex. Why be a hypocrit?
I personally do not like the age difference, but it is actually irrelevent to the fact if the young girl wanted to, and enjoyed the presumed sexual acts, then why crucify the adult? When I was a kid there were girls that sure liked to play doctor.

Odd just a few years ago it was only Missisippi..................

Maybe Nambla has something to do with it...............

And going back to look at it, they are wrong.......14 is not legal in PA since 16 is considered statutory rape.....I know because I grew up there. ANd Maryland under 18 will get you statuatory rape.....I know becasue there was cases that made the news when I lived there through 1987.

What the 14 yr old did or did not do is not the legal issue. Any adult knows having sex with a 14 yr is a crime, including this sick *****. The reason it is a crime is because people that are that young are suceptible to the kind of sick manipulation that happened here.

Nambla? I wasn't aware their lobby had achieved political power. Dude, you have got to stop soaking your weed in dry cleaning fluid before you smoke it.
