I am worried.

What's there to be worried about?

Just about everybody here realizes that any M/B produced of late is no better (and may fare worse than) a Ford Taurus.

If you want the three pointed star on the front, just shut up and pay for it.

Otherwise, buy something else such as a Lexus.

Or purchase and maintain an older M/B, such as these two, which won't bleed you to a slow death.

I don't know about Lexus but go find me a part for a 90 Tarus. It might be obsolete. GM, Ford and Chrysler all obsolete their parts. In our case, if we wanted to pay for it, you can get it.

Wasn't there some kind of law requiring the manufacturers to keep all parts available for a specific period of time...........10 years maybe?

I suppose a '90 Taurus is out of that window.

With regard to getting M/B parts, I've already encountered problems with buying broken pieces. I need a clip or a fastener. Nope. Not available. Must buy the entire assembly at something like $500.00

M/B may be somewhat better at keeping older parts available, but, they are not the holy grail.

This site (and the owner's alledged lemon) had been a topic of conversation nearly three years ago! We've posted this link way back then.

This was the chronicle by one unsatisfied MB owner of his extraordinary effort to get restitution for not getting favorale resolution by said dealership or MB in general.

It's old news...too bad for the guy...wonder if he ever got his problem solved?

What I am really worried about is Mercedes-Benz's future.... so far, it is really starting to look dark. Will the days where cars like my 89' 300E ever come back? When I grow up, say 30 years from now, I want to be able to own a solid dependable Mercedes without having to restore another 300E from the 80s! Or by one for $200,000 from that Barret-Jackson Auction thingy either!
I kinda like the Lexus's, but I am just scarred with the fact that it is a Toyota with simulated wood trim! It is not just the hood star that makes me happy, I just love this car for it's well, carness! I sometimes find myself staring at the engine of my car without purpose! I am just addicted or obsessed with this German automobile! HELP ME!!!!!!!!!!!!

One guess is that 30 years from now the personal auto and internal combustion engine will be almost as widely used as a Stanley steamer is today.

Hey, back-ff from the Steamer! I'd love to have a steam-driven car. I saw a picture of a WWII German steam car that was a marvel of creative genius and necessity. I'd think a HP boiler with a superheater going to HP and LP piston system and a condenser would just about do the trick. Gawd, that'd be fun, hissing and wheezing down the road.

I'm not so sure that's true. I have a '92 Exploder and parts are plentiful-new parts and used if I want them. Maybe I'm just before the cut off but I doubt it. My 84 MB 300 Turbo diesel is actually cheaper to operate though!

Its nice to have a good car, and MB should be one. I have heard from many friends with newer MBs that they will never buy another one again, even after growing up with 220's and 300's. Its sad when things that are so cool become things that truly suck, but MB looks like the new (or old, depending on your perspective) Jag.

No, it came free with underinflated Firestone Wilderness tires. Or, didn't you hear the noise a few years ago?

Its what I call the model when speaking about it to friends especially. Actually, when I replaced the tires last year, I opted out of the Goodyears that actually cleated to hell and sucked to Firestone Wilderness'. No explosions so far, but you never know when I'll have an unexpected roll over while driving down the road in those criminally soft tires and the whole car will burst into flames and burn me alive with all my friends...Geez, I drove MGs with wooden steering wheels and wires for years and never wore a seatbelt and didn't think twice, but it looks like I may have been into some good money had I just let my beater-baby stay stock and had a one of those random lane change explosions...Oh well.

Yeah we had a 1993 Ford Taurus that needed a new water pump, theomostat, and gaskets every 3,000 miles, the transmission started to grind when ever traveling uphill, but it held up against 3 accidents that my sister kept getting involved in...
