Silver Sun Shield
I didn't know where to post this. It's a Technical question, I have an SL, but it's really for my Escape :-}
The wife gave me a really nice sun shield for the windshield, but the face is silver foil. Years ago, a friend who owned an apartment building complained about one of his rentors using tin foil as drapes, and the affect -very negative - it had on the window glass. Is my memory failing or ??? This thing is really nice, but HUGE. It's too big for my Escape

The sun sheilds don't use metal foil, it's a thin plastic laminate, like those modern kites, so there's no concern about metal to glass contact. The silver reflective material appears to outperform the white surfaces in tests that I have seen for interior heat reflection, but the biggest benefit is that it minimizes solar exposure to the dash, steering wheel and other vinyl, plastic or leather pieces under that big piece of glass.

Thanks.
I'll keep using it.
