Portland Oegon Broadcast TV sucks!

I'm stuck home this weekend because I came down with a bad sinus cold so I've got nothing to do but watch TV or surf the net or both since I have a lap top I keep on the coffee table.
I keep the TV on as background noise but I cant find nothing on the tube but infomercials, sports shows I don't like or stupid cheezy TV programs. What the "F" has happened to all the movies and classic sit coms?
Portland TV stinks!
Why don't I have satellite or cable? I can't get cable and I'm not going to shell out $30+/mo for satellite for which then I'll have to watch and not spend time time doing more important things like work on my Benzes when I feel better.

We can get DVD's from the library for free, TV shows and documentaries. Movies cost $1/week.

I just cancelled my cable, know what you are talking about.

I'd go and rent some DVD's but I feel too sick to go anywhere.
A local supermarket rents DVD's for a $1 and you can keep 'em a week.

Be glad that's all it'd cost. Around my area, we spend at least $40 for basic cable. Dish is about the same. Damn monopolies.

Whatever cable or satellite costs, I'd rather spend that money on my MB's.
There's finally something worth watching. I have OPB on now and a program called "Rough Science" is on. Good show.

There are internet radio stations and simucast radio stations. I listen to www.wgms.com which is a classical music station in Washington D.C. I listen at night at work. I can't get broadcast radio this deep inside the building with all the computer 'noise'.

You probably don't like oldies stations.

How'd you know that?

Actually some of the music I like can technically be called oldies because the '80s is now long enough ago.
I am open to almost all forms of music. My music tastes span from Techno to Classical.
It all depends what mood I'm in.
