Waking up with a neckache.

Possibly the most annoying thing in the world because all you've done is sleep. Anyone have any ideas on how I can get a bit of relief? I can't even look over my right shoulder well enough to change lanes.

A neck massage would probably help.

It will likely help even more if performed by a lovely blonde. Twice as effective if there are two blondes. Three times...well, you get my drift.

If it helps, you can tell her I'm a registered sports medicine doctor. Heck, I'll provide you a letter of referral.

On a serious note, some slow stretching/rotation of the neck would probably loosen the muscles. Start off with slight movements and gradually stretch more until you feel the muscles loosening up. Applied heat would help, I sometimes stretch out tight muscles in a hot shower...wait a minute, that could be misconstrued...

It's not from sleeping -- it's from that pain in the neck friend of yours.

Find out what is causing the pain and deal with it: pillow, mattress, stress. My neck hurt everyday but the pain subsided after I changed how I sat at my desk and viewed the computer. Do you use the phone a lot at work and cradle it with your shoulder? This was the cause of another neck pain I had a few years back.

I've had those annoying neck pains/pinched nerves particularly after wrenching underneath a car, craning my head at odd angles, seems to get worse with age, happens frequently now, which may reflect on my mechanical skill or lack thereof......

For immediate relief I take Carleton's Cocktail...........1 Flexeril and half a Percoset, preferably washed down with a 60-40 gin and tonic with a splash o'lime, works every time,I ain't gonna lie to ya!

Reminds me of this.....

"Say...did yer wake up with the pain in the neck this morning ?"

"No...I let her sleep in !"

This is one solution I hadn't thought of.

Works for the guys who sleep on park benches, think about how their necks must feel in the A.M.

Happens to me a lot. I have had neck/middle back problems for years.

I bought one of those tempur-pedic pillows....the memory-foam stuff you see on late-nite TV.... Made a HUGE difference. Even when I travel, (I do so a LOT), I take it with me. I highly recommend it to anyone with such problems. I wish I could spare the $$ for one of the matresses too, but they are high-$$$.

Mike
