OK Bone. I'll try and take up the slack while you mend. I'm not as good at it as you though.

BTW, what evil Liberal caused your illness??? (see, trying already)

Get well soon.

Got my CT scan with contrast this morning...but it still needs analyzed with the chest X-ray from yesterday...Doctor put me on AVELOX 400 mg once a day for ten days....until they figure out what it is I have..(if its a lung infection or pneumonia then I'm covered).this is tearing me up pretty good by the evening..

Here is what I find strange and is going to bother me till doctor calls me..

I was told this CT scan w/ contrast was to help clarify whats on my lungs....but the CT scan tech mentioned on my way out the door they see no blood clots?

SInce chest pains is part of what I am suffering, along with the feeling of something lodged in my throat that is almost triggering a gag reflex, I now wonder what they are not telling me...

I had a pretty good lung infection back in the spring, and let me tell you this is 10X worse than anything I have had before.

In any case I am going to be coming and going....

Good luck Bone -- hope you get it cured quick. I had pneumonia once about 9 years ago -- knocked me flat on my ass with a fever in excess of 103.5 for 11 days. Absolutely heinous...

Hope you get better and a TRUE diagnosis is found soon!!

And don't take medical advice from a bunch of MB owners who barely know how their cars work much less their bodies!

Also, try not to lean to the left when you stand! ;)

Sometimes the harder you push the worse it gets.

I did the same. Ignored orders for simple bronchitis and ended up back in the ER a week later. Ended up in the hospital for a week.

REST REST REST.

A good film and expert eyes can see just about anything that is ailing you.

Also, I'd double check on that blood clot. A tech shouldn't say something like that in passing, as a pulmonary embolism can kill you. Talk to the Doc.

And as G mentioned, take internet advice with a grain of salt. Shoot, even cars advice is wrong half the time. :)

No wasn't waiting on the advice...when I woke up with the pain sunday I knew this was something other than a cold...had it gotten worse sunday I would ahave gone to the ER....it was steady so I went to see my regual physician monday AM.

Yes they took a chest X-ray....that prompted him to order up a CT scan with contrast IV. The EKG showed normal....I am still waiting for the CT tech to talk with my doctor who will then explain what if any findings to me....may be tonight , may not be till tomorrow...

breathing is easier today..but the pain of a simple cough is enough to bring me to my knees....

I've walked on a torn calf mussel and double archilles tendon rupture for two days.. That didn't hurt near this bad.....other than that breathing end of it is improving at least...I don't feel quite as much like I am suffocating like I was sunday and particularly monday AM early...

Well, I hope you mend simply and quickly,I know how you must be feeling as I had a wicked bad case of pleurisy in my early 20's since I ignored the pneumonia that {according to my doctor} I had for over 6 months which supposedly caused it.

Stay warm, drink lots of fluid and sit back, avoid exertion and let your friends and family do things for you.

Plantman 10-18-2005 04:39 PM

Hope everything's ok bonie! The world's a better place when you're healthy and aggravating people. :)

Well I got my results from the CT scan....was told that nothing Pathological found and was asymtomatic...to continue the Antibiotic treatment for the next 8 days...since it was a nurse who told me this I assume that means it was either #1 a lung infection or #2 pneumonia...nothing more serious...which is a good thing...considering my family history.

The knot I feel in my throat (like big chunk of food is stuck in throat) is still there and most anoying thing about it...and the frequent coughing feells like my chest is ripping itself appart....but breating feels freeer than before a little. my appitite has started to return a little...have had zero apitite for the last week....and I mean zero.

so all indications are everything is on the mend and getting better...slowly but surely...but its going to be slower than I want it to be.

OK, I do hope that you don't suffer too, too much here, as a result of your illness, I already have condolences for the way your brain thinks, and that's OK too :D Seriously, just take it easy, and forget about that oil change you planned.......for a while ;) .......BB :)

I believe pneumonia is pretty easy to diagnose -- it's visible in chest x-rays and involves a high fever. I recall once feeling incredible searing pain in my lungs from just breathing deeply -- god help me if I coughed. It scared me right into the ER, and was diagnosed as a big nothing. Apparently, a cold had settled on to some scar tissue that had formed in my lung from a prior bout of bronchitis. It passed within a couple of days. Not suggesting that you have the same thing, just that seemingly severe symptoms can turn out to be benign -- and vice versa of course.

Funny that you mention oilchange....I've been putting off one that was overdue by my standards since last week.....and I got to get it inspected before the end of the month....and the left hi beam won't come on....damn it.(its not the bulb)...got to fiqure out how to pull the multifunction switch and see if I can burnish the contacts to get it working for now....but at least its warmer this week...

pneumonia does not always involve a fever....in fact thats what is called "walking pneumonia" you can have it and die from it without even knowing it symptoms are that low key...Have known a few that nearly died from that...one who did die from it at 26..never knew he was sick till too late.

Waking up with the crushing chest pain and the lump I feel in my throat was all the convining I needed to see the doctor...last week all I had was a nasty cold.....that improved saturday then hit me like a ton of bricks sunday.

X-rays showed fluid on the lungs....CT w/ contrast I think was to eliminate cardio/pulmonary issues that could cause that.....being 44 with a family history of heart problems drove that I believe. (I had one aunt die at 34 from a heart attack) and my grandmother from same side of family die at 40 of same thing. But that has been eliminated to the infection or Pneumonia thing eithe rof which the Antibiotics will take care of.

Take this for what it's worth as I'm not a doctor. But tylenol with codeine (tylenol 3 I believe) or some cough syrup with codeine may help with the chest pain while coughing. Your doctor may have some contraindications for you in your specific case but it's worth asking about.

Pain relievers are a bit strange with me...I know what you speak of.....does little for me pain wise...i've had it before. about 23 years ago after a motorcycle accident.

Percocet does ZERO for pain...I mean worse than zero...gives ne terminal constipation as long as its in my system....found this out through two operations...basicly recovered from those with no pain relief..nothing they gave me worked..(I forget what the other two they tried were, but they did nothing either) but pain was tollerable by then and wasn't pursued farther.

Luckily the coughing fits are very brief...becasue that is worse than the pain after surgery. Lungs do feel a little clearer now than yesterday, ergo less coughing.
