I can peg a region just by how the food is cooked..and how it tastes...and be more accurate than a good meteorologist.....

Most cream and butter sauces are northern italian...some of the more elaborit ones tend Florentine....Sothern italian cooking tends to be simpler and makes the most of fresh ingrediants...while Sicilian cooking tends to be a bit more robust in the flavors dept....they love garlic the most.

The cooking styles is Amazing when you consider Italy has roughly the land mass of Pennsylvania.

But that comes from 5 years living there and about a month a year there over the last 14 years. Ther is little substitute for experience....

And the best Pissa makers are without any doubt raised and trained in Napoli... I have never had Pizza that compares to what I have ate over there....the best of them being 10 + 10 "dieci piu dieci" is how its pronounced . THey have 4 restaurants and are all brothers from Naples....

And all have wood fired ovens....

Haven't had a pizza that has come close over here......

I always wanted to ask, why did you live in Italy? choice? Military?

I was supposed o go for my honeymoon 8 years ago but the consulate in Miami gave my 3rd world wife a hard time and we couldn't make it.

Seems like the italians don't want Belizeans over there for too long. It took a long time to get the app approved. So we went to San Pedro in Belize instead. Anyway, I've always wanted to go. :(

Italy got flooded with Albanian trash and has been getting hit hard and heavy from Africa and more recently China...yes they are touchy about people who come and may decide to stay.

I have a legal right to live and work there....I am grandfathered under the old immigration law in italy.....

what was I doig there?....I said too much about that once before...so lets say An Army base and a major comm center were involved up through the Gulf war...but I did spend a year there where I did not have dealings with Americans after that was over. (only time I spoke english was when I spoke with my parents once a month)

Trust me...I've done it too....I have had pissing matchs with a few local communist party supporters over there where that ran away..........they got off talking big.....then they realised I was playing head games...they relized I was going to do exactly what I told them I was going to do....one of which is th e boot camp joke about ripping someones head off and taking a poo down their throat...oh I can have a very colorful arguement in italian..

long time ago before I got married I pulled out onto the street into a gap in traffic after waiting 10 minutes for a gap....4 you punks lid on th ehorn and started screaming, I stop car in middle or road and get out..they get out and start talking tough.....that sends me off and I go off on them ready to kick some butt by then.....long story short they knew at least one of them wouldn't be walking aay and all four of them ran back to the car and rolled the windows up.....

They never expected an American that would lay into them so hard and heavy in Italian...much less be ready to take them all on in the middle of traffic...

or the time one punk kid (about 14) thought it was funny to toss mud at me when i was working on my motorcycle..., well until I hit him with a baseball size glob of mud square in the face...or his parent that wanted to shout obscenities from their 4th floor appartment ( welfare bums ) for me pelting their littl monster with a mudball...

I invited them both down so I could kick both their lazy butts too... I had a reputation in that neighborhood that I took crap from nobody...

I had a major attitude back then.....I've mellowed out a lot since then...

First things I learned was how to flip someone off and swear..

How long did it take you to master Italian? I've gotten kind of rusty with my German from a lack of people who speak the Saxon dialect. I had a Saxon girl friend in the mid 90's who came over here for a year. We had a lot of fun together. Her speaking my English and me speaking her Saxon German. We corrected each others grammar and in the end we were both very bi-lingual. Our conversations were something else. Unfortunately she had to go back to Germany. I can still curse fluently and I still know all of the vulgar names for the human anatomy in German which was part of our joint education. :D

Because it wasn't yours, it was the blood sacrifice I made of a cockroach. By trying to usurp my deity's proper due, you are cursed to reincarnate as a dung beetle. It happens.

Your sacrifice couldn't possibly have worked. As everyone knows, roaches have goo not blood. Sounds like your getting all atwist with the usurpy thing. Are you about to declare a bug-ihad?

Did that while I was working there....the Army screwed with me so bad I had to take maters in my own hands and I learned how to work their system very well....I got things done that was supposed to be impossible.....and somethings overnight that took the Army Beaurocrats two months to do...

I found my own appartment negotiated my own lease learned enough in 4 months to act as my own customs clearance agent...(maybe the wrong term but thats close) .did the same thing when I came back.. accquired and still have a pretty good collection of friends and contacts over there, Starting with a regional Chief of police, friends inside of the Procura della republica....and numerous other bigshots via good friends who are in the inner circles.

Certain things I never mastered.....such as while I can read and speak the language quite fluently.....I can barely write it. I learned it actively while doing business , the ultimate immersion course if you wish, not in the classroom. I lived and spoke italian outside of work since most of my friends barely spoke english...

Do some research on this......http://www.amisnet.org/it/2944

The Moby Prince ferry disaster on April 10, 1991 near the port of Livorno Italy.... I saw that burning that night when it happened from the window of my condo at the beach....it wasn't till the next morning we found out what happened...that Ferry burned to the waterline from the inside out in minutes..

It T-boned a gasolene tanker that was anchored 1/2 mile offshore at night...(yes I know the questions that raises too)

1991....I was on that ship just days afterwards even though it was sequestured away from the public and away from journalists....like I said...I had friends..

Why did I want to be? 2 of those 140 who died on that ship were friends of mine.....

Funny thing is....everything about that still has not come out and its been 14 years...I keep abreast of the news......since I saw things few reporters ever saw.....they kept that ship sequestured for 10 years before it was towed out at night and skuttled with no public notice.....Anyone who flew into the Pisa airport from 1991 through 2001 could actually see its rusted hulk ( it helped to know I knew what and where it was) as the flight path actually went near the port....

Interesting tidbit of info for those who think I BS..........

That's what happens when a botanist thinks he's an insectologist.
