trans help wanted

87 300 sdl how much oil does the trans hold. Without draining the converter.Also what would happen if to much flud was put in thanks joe

It's something like 8 quarts. I'll check the manual when I get home.

You'll drain about 4 quarts through the pan. It's half a step more to drain the torque converter. Why not do it?

What would happen is that you'll aerate the fluid diminishing its ability to serve as a working fluid, lubricant and coolant. What should happen is that you correct the level ASAP. At some point you reach a point of no return where you'll damage the transmission, ruin the fluid or both.
