W124 300TE Survey

How many of you own a w124 300TE"

1. What is the year?

2. Current mileage?

3. Years of ownership?

4. Color?

5. Any problems/issues?

6. Happy with it? Unhappy with it?

7. Pics?

After we bought our daughter a C320 wagon (a sports car with a huge trunk ) I almost sold the 300TE. In spite of the intermittent stalling issue I could not bring myself to selling "Alice." It felt like getting rid of an old, but much loved family pet. I have never felt this kind of "dumb" attachment to a car.

So I was wondering if there are other 300TE owners out there who are as attached to the "little" wagon as we seem to be. We plan to keep "Alice" around as an occasional daily driver and for trips to the vet and to Home Depot. The 300TE is a far more stylish hauler than our Yukon

Thanks for your replies.

1991
White
Purchased with 99000 drove it to 291000
Needed suspension work through out.
Rear axle bearings
top end rebuild
Evaporator
Tailgate shocks every six months

But for the price I paid and the amount of work vs miles and quality of the drive I still think it paid off. I would have killed a car 10 years newer just as easy.

Smoke Silver
Replaced transmission, ignition lock, 2 fuel pumps, oil pump, but it just needed a sending unit, drivers lower seat cover, put 500E rear sway bar on, painted all lowers to match the car, put 17" AMGs all around, front brakes, tinted all rear windows, installed Satellite radio semi-permanent.
LOVE the car and hope to own it for a long time. Only car I would want in place of the TE would be a new E55 wagon. Love the wagons.
I have a pic around here somewhere.

1988 300TE WAGON!!!!

And, yes there is an attachment to this aogn. nobiody wants it, but no one wants to sell it.
New Hatch Struts
New Trannie
All 4 windows have had their workings replaced
Sunroof Repaired
And many, many other big ticket items

However, she is still running on the original build of the motor. She has 220,000 miles, and still runs like a champ.

Oh yes. Diamond blue too.

Ours is a 1994 E320 wagon with 110,000 miles. We purchased the car with a three year Starmark warranty from American Service Center (Mercedes dealership) in 1999. If you enjoy fine craftsmanship and smart engineering, the 124 wagon is tough to beat. We had every one of the normal 124/104 issues (they were covered by Starmark). It's dark blue with saddle tex interior. Great vehicle.

I loved it because if I lost it in a parking garage I just followed the oil trail.

Another thing I like about the 300TE are the amber fog lamps. This morning I had to make a quick dash to the market. We live in a near-coastal area (whatever that means) and the fog is real thick this morning.

The amber fog lamps do a better job, in my opinion, than the regular fog lamps in my newer E320.

Go figure.

If I could only find a "cure" for the intermittent stall-while-coasting issue I'd be a very happy camper.
