Anyone taken the FE exam recently ?

Fundamentals of Engineering - the first step to becoming a licensed Professional Engineer. My FE exam is on saturday, I just graduated school (BS Mech. Engrng. technology) in June, so most of the stuff is fresh (6years in the navy shouldnt hurt either...)

piece of cake, at least the morning session was. This was in 1981, probably a bit different now. Now is the time to take the EIT, not 10 years after school.....

I took it in '94 while I during my last year of school; was not difficult and I passed w/o problem. Take it now while all the stuff is fresh.

They called it the Engineer-in-Training exam when I took it in 1981. Since you are just out of school, you shouldn't have any problem with it. I found the EIT to be more challenging than the Professional Engineer's exam. I think they dumb-down the PE test because they know that people have been out of school for a while.

It's been so many years, I don't remember much about either exam. On one of the tests, I think it was the PE, you get to pick which questions to answer. My degree is in mechanical engineering, but I wound up answering several questions from the civil engineering section - water tanks on hills connected to piping systems, that sort of thing. I don't think the EIT or the PE have many super challenging questions, but I do recall having more time pressure on the EIT. Lots of questions. So move it along and you'll be fine. |
