What is with those trailers and mfg. houses on runways is AL.?

Looks like thousands and thousands of trailer homes and mfg. houses parts on runways in Alabama... what's the deal with that?

Think about it

Hint: something displaced those people a half a year ago.

But they are empty (people are not living in them), and in some cases they are falling apart because they sat on the trailers (not foundations like they were designed) and never got to the people you mentioned.

Oh so you're baiting.

There is a surplus of 10,000 based on a 100,000 trailer order. What would you be saying if there were 10,000 less?

Question then, since you seem to know about this sort of thing. Why did I just see where we have tens of thousands of people having to leave the hotel rooms that we were paying for if there was a suplus (as you said) of mobile homes? Why not have them move into those homes?

City infrastructure and zoning can not accomodate mobile homes - that is one of the bigger reasons

I don't understand? Which city can't accomodate them? I thought they were for the people that were not homeless because of Katrina? Isn't that what MedMech said?

Those mobile homes need to be hooked up to sewage, water, and have home type electrical boxes. Also they need to be anchored, braced etc. Zonning laws prohibit placing Mobiles in certain areas and Mobile Homes are prohibited in Flood Plains.
They have also found that people are preferring the RV type of housing that they can put in the driveway of what was their home.

Ok, I understand that? So then was MedMech wrong? Were they not placed there for the Katrina people?

Hm. That's interesting. I would think that FEMA would have made the choice where people would stay. It doesn't make sense to let the homes fall apart on their trailers. Seems to me that now the taxpayers have had to pay for the hotel stays AND the now ruined mobile homes.

Maybe FEMA is making a strategic move since it is well documented that trailer homes attract tornados and the '06 severe storm season is rapidly approaching.

Then that would be by far the smartest thing FEMA has done that was documented in recent history

They were supose to be used for the huricane victims but FEMAS own rules keep them from being used! "Can't set them up in any kind of Flood plain" Your goverment at its finest!! Mean while folks are being turned out into the streets!! When shelter is parked on a runway??
