Think Oakland is bad? Try Richmond. Friend of mine grew up in Richmond. He was telling me when he was seven, he and his brother would get mugged walking home after getting milk from the corner store.

I am at work so I only saw the first section of the video but was that video the video from when a concert was cancelled in Oakland arena way back and the concertgoers were pissed because of not getting their money back?

Oakland is a sort of dead zone, more and more. I drove cab there for a while, day shift only -- that was hairy enough.
Those guys might have been pissed about the concert scenario, then again, that kind of stuff happens often enough, from what I read, just from the spill-over energy from the "sideshows" where young toughs gather to see who can destroy their tires the fastest in donut displays. I can't figure those cabs just sitting there and taking it -- maybe they were afraid they'd get shot if they pushed those punks out of the way for real... Richmond is a tad bit worse, it's true. One of the Pick 'n Pull brand yards is up there, so I've driven through it plenty of times. Having a sidearm in those situations might be of use -- might just get you in deeper with some punks who have way fewer restraints around wasting another human than you do.

If in fact that was the concert blowout about 10 years ago ironically I was participating in a ride along with an American Medical Response shift supervisor for Saturday evening entertainment and we drove around from 6PM to Midnight to see what sort of drama happened in good ole Alameda. We stayed around East 14th street since that was as he said "where the action was". We did have literally a dozen radios in the truck which was a nice F250 Powerstroke. He did mention "in the event that we're surrounded press that little red button on a 2 way handheld radio and the police will issue an APB and home in our location". That was reassuring.
Ironically I was dropped off due to my curfew before the rioting happened and the next day he mentioned how a Mustang had sped off with 6 people in it, hit a curb flipped over and chopped someone's arm off in the roll and landed upside down on someone's front lawn. |

Bastards
Thats when you put it in reverse, put the windows up, and repeat the "Drive, Reverse" shuffle over as many of these pieces of $hit as possible. No respect for property. Thats where second ammendment rights are good..a 9MM round from a FN Hi Power would've taught some of that low class ghetto trash to get a life, especially when he's picking his girlfriends brains off the pavement

Upon watching it again, I'm pretty sure that wasn't Oakland. The only Oakland identifier was the guy who jumped in front of the camera with the Oakland A's jacket and he clearly looked spliced in.
The two cabs have a paint scheme and roof billboards unlike anything in Oakland or SF. SF Yellow cab has the roof signs but not that beige and yellow color combo. I've not driven cab in Oakland in 10 years, but I drive through Oakland plenty and I notice those things. Not that Oakland couldn't produce such crap -- happens way too often. I'm wondering if the film-maker/poster figured Oakland would add some notoriety to his property. I'd a been tempted to run the pukes over myself but only if I had ample room to escape -- looked a bit grid-locked a few times there. Those mo-fos would do a stomping party on your head if you hurt one of their precious homies. About five guys with pump shotguns could have done some pest control on that scene -- but then they'd be looking at doing life with cousins, uncles, fathers, and brothers of the punks. It's hard to win with that trash.

You're right. There is something about their willingness to attack stuff for no GDed reason that is a bit hard to take, however. Dudes like that graduate to stomping people's heads.
