I've been so busy this morning I didn't notice until just now that the sun has come out. I may run home and mow the lawn before it goes away again.

On that note, I do have some lawn hay to bale up after all that rain.

Dee8go 05-08-2009 08:14 PM

The lawn has been mowed, cigar smoked, and scotch drunk. I guess I'll go see what Verizon FiOS has to offer tonight . . .

Dee8go 05-15-2009 12:48 PM

Yaaaay! It's Frydeeee again. The lawn's been mowed, household chores done, and the weekend is almost here. I think we're going to a concours or car show of some kind on Sunday. That should be fun.

Have a great weekend everybody.

This weekend my son graduates from HS. His prom was yesterday, the gf's prom is next week.

DD's Little League Softball tonight (I'll have all 4 kids since my wife is off to a school fundraiser ), work tomorrow until noon, S#1's Little League game at 1:00 and the Mrs. and I are escaping for a dinner date sans kids for the first time in a long time. We've got reservations at a nice Japanese steak and sushi restaurant. Cow for me, fish for her. I'm looking forward to it!

Heading out of work momentarily (soon as Darling Wife and Luke the Wonder Dog get here) and off to Community Forklift. Hope to score a couple radiators and enough used T&G lumber to build a couple barn doors. Then off to Ma & Ed's former town house for what should be the last little bit of crap.

Tonight starts The Great Farmhouse Blitz. Got a boatload of work to do (cosmetic/hide the lead paint/rewiring/destroy yet another plaster ceiling/other misc. stuff inside, scrape & paint outside, get power to the barn, re-glaze a couple windows, make all the house windows go up & down, etc. etc. etc.). Supposed to be done and have FHA inspection complete by 01 June. Gonna be tight!

Got the next 10 days off (5 days unpaid furlough - go economy! - plus weekends + Memorial Day), so hoping there is a fighting chance we might get done.

Oh - and if Luke's buddy hasn't found a home by tomorrow morning, throw in a quick jaunt down to VA to pick up Lucky. Seems Lucky has gone from joyful spazzy pup (think Donkey in Shrek bouncing up and down "Pick me! Pick me! Pick me!") to sad and mopey pup ever since we brought Luke home. Two of them were picked up together. Theory is that scars on Lucky's nose & injury to Luke's one eye may have been from a single load of buckshot aimed in their general direction.

Cuz, you know, 1 dog, 7 cats, and 2 semi-functional in-laws isn't a big enough zoo :P

Taking a road trip with the family to Vermont to see my niece graduate Law School. I am very happy for here and she has a job lined up.:):) but I am not happy about having to stay in a College Dorm for the weekend:mad::mad:. So much for getting any sleep because of all the parties and the drunk people hanging out of the balcony at 3AM.

Got the old antenna sold and finally removed from the property today...Plan 'A' didn't work (back semi/trailer 1,300 feet down easement, found that support for 3rd section woundn't land on flatbed), so the truck/trailer had to pull forward, the two forks had to "doe-si-doe" 180° around, the truck/trailer had to back back up and under the load, then the "horses" were removed and the antenna was finally rested on the bed with about 4" left to spare...about 6' of the antenna hung off the back of the trailer...they tied a red flag on it and decided to have one of the other trucks ride "tail-gunner" behind the load all the way back to La Crescent...I've attached a few "thumbnails" shots of the festivities...

Outside of that, the weather cooperated nicely...little, to no, wind and it was in the 60s for the most part of the day...

Got back to town...went to "Festering Bytes" and perused the place until I ended up deciding on 5 CDs that I haven't been able to find anywhere else...will rip them tomorrow onto the 'puter, then "iPod" them to the Shuffle...

Mgburg- thanks for the pics. Reminds me of that show Build It Bigger and how they use these giant earth movers to get things done. I managed to get my head wrapped around the 3D camera today and as Borat would say: "It'ssss Goooodddd." Taking both SL's down to the MBUSA Concours in Vienna, va.

Old quote, Dee, but I meant to give you mad props for the comment back then. Your timing was exquisite! :D

Thanks Mistress...it took about 45 minutes just to load those "thumbies" and what's interesting...I had only 6 more shots...but for some reason, my camera didn't have the other 20 or so that I shot besides the 11 I had on the card? You're talking about getting a 3D Camera and I'm thinking I need a replacement 'cause mine is acting possessed  (It showed shots being taken and stored, but nothing's on the card...eh?).

It's only a 3.3 Megapixel Vivitar Vivicam 3175 that I got about Xmas '02 (or right after that...). Thing cost about $198 back then...now, you can get something about 1/4 the thickness, with a bigger, better-lit screen, auto-focus, anti-redeye, anti-jiggle (unlike your avatar! (image-stabilized)), low-lux capable and about 10.1+MPixels (or more) for about $20.00 less. :D

Am I a cheap b*star*, or what?  :D

Hell, I've still got the 64Mb SD card from the when I bought the camera...that thing was about $50.00 then, too! Geesh! I don't throw anything out...or upgrade that fast, either!!!

Hey! Thanks again! :thumbsup2: And good luck w/the 3D camera thingie!

mgburg 05-22-2009 04:13 AM

Good morning kiddies...

Hey Mistress! I went out a bought a 10Megapixel Canon PowerShot SD1200 IS for around 212.00...picked up a 4G SDHC card to trap stuff...now, I just got to find the time this weekend to take a few shots...

Today and tomorrow are booked, and then some...

* - I'm picking up the S-10 from the Autobody shop...had them take care of few bare spots where the paint just flaked off and then polish it down nice...she's pulling a float on Saturday...

* - The assistant is taking the day and weekend off to visit his sister and her son in the Chicago area...so I've got Fireman's Duty 'til Tuesday...

* - I've got to work on the float to change some signage to reflect current office holders that changed last election...white gaffers' tape and a red paint pen are the quick fixes coming to mind...

* - The parade itself, after I drop off the "X" so she can keep an eye on the bartenders (She's the only one with a "bartenders' license" for the whole weekend...and she doesn't like beer at all!)...after I drop off the float, I'll probably join her either tending the bar or selling beer tickets...

* - Getting her 'puter up and running...anyone familiar with VISTA incase I screw something up on that platform? :D

* - I might drown a few brats in a couple of cans of La Crosse's best brew and let them steep overnight with a few onions in the oven...then brown them on the grill...they just melt in your mouth the next day...BEE-YEW-TEA-FULL!!!!

Hey! Have a safe and quiet weekend and on Monday, reach over and shake the hand or kiss that vet standing in line or next you...they deserve it more than we'll ever know...

YIKES! 3 days with the kids!!

S#1 has a little league game tonight under the lights at the town's new field (hoping they have our banner hanging in center field!). The kids have a 1/2 day today so the oldest two and I will run over to the family burial plot to make sure it's all spruced up.

Tomorrow-Memorial Day parade in the morning, just DD and wife marching for Girl Scouts (S#1 is at the too-cool-to-march-with-baseball-anymore stage) so the boys and I will actually get to watch it this year! My daughter's troop is carrying the memorial wreath for the ceremony at the monument in the Old Burying Grounds. That works out well because the kids are usually so tired and crabby by the end of the parade that we just go home. Now they'll be able to see the ceremony and hear the family name a couple times and get the true reason for their days off.

Then off to Fenway with S#1, DD and my brother! :bounce: It'll be the first trip to see the Sawx for both of them, can't wait to see their faces!

Sunday and Monday will be the 'Honey Do' list, interspersed with beer consumption and grilling. I hope to finally get the raised beds built, but I promise nothing. The Mrs. wants our poverty pool set up and I really need to finish sprucing up the Jeep to put it on the market.
