I passed my dad in height around 16, but it took a few more years until I was able to pin him while wrestling ... or at least almost pin him since he would jab my ribs or something else before a full 3 count.:D

I do that alot;) Wife has a midnight deadline, so I am going to pick up the girls a little early and take them to the camp, canoe around the ponds a little this pm and spend the night up there with them. Should be fun unless we run into any 'critters.'

That sounds great, JD!

For the first time in a while we have no baseball games or practices on a Fri. I'm not sure what we'll do with ourselves this evening.

This weekend is pretty well locked up between dance recital, Father's Day Eve dinner with my in-laws and Father's Day Lobster Fest at my parent's. I was hoping to get to the NE GTG but I'm not sure I can squeeze it in or not. Figures.

I've got some reverse engineering to do on the kids' playscape since everything that was buried in the mulch has rotten away and the top of the ladder/monkey bar portion have a couple of cracks in them at the very ends where they bolt through a plate into each other. If I get that free boat moved this weekend (found a taker, I think) I can get our "pool" set up.

Thank you Chad.

As I mentioned, here's an update on the day's take for the Red Cross...they had two separate collection points...ours, at the La Crosse Center and the other was in the community of Viroqua, WI..

The TOTAL was around $91,400.00 for 12 hours of standing in the roadway and dodging cars.

I was "scheduled" to be there only 3 hours yesterday morning, but I decided to hang 'til the end...12 hours...bucket and counting...

Now, today, I'll be in Eau Claire, over at a community GTG, called Sawdust City Days...located in a area called Carson Park. The station is doing a little thing called "FOXFEST IDOL" where a winner is eventually selected and is given the chance to be one of many to try out for the "American Idol" finals in one of the selection-cities.

My job for the day will be "Stage-Nazi" - where I prep the contestants before their performances - I try to put them at ease so they aren't chucking chunks on stage...at has happened...

See ya' on the boards later!

WOW!! I wouldn't have guessed you guys could collect that much. Sounds like it was a huge success and your efforts were definitely worth it.

Have fun later today.:)

I went to the mall with my wife and kids last night to get a FD gift for the FIL. Afterward we went to Applebee's for something to eat since they have always seemed to be a "kid friendly" place. This was the first time we've been to a restaurant with our kids since our daughter was born. It turned out to be a GREAT time.:) They were both so well behaved and my son exhibited manners that I didn't think he picked up on yet. He even thanked our server as he cleared our table. Did I mention he isn't even 3 yet? Maybe I'm just another biased parent, but I couldn't be more proud of my kids. After last night, we plan to do get out more often with the kids. I'm sure it won't always be like last night's experience, but that's OK.;)

Well, enough gushing ... have a great weekend!:)

Damn, JD, you lawyers sound like you lead a pretty nice life! I'm starting to regret turning down that scholarship off I got to Vanderbilt law school. It was a dual discipline program in law and divitnity. If I had gone to that, I would have ended up with at least ONE useful degree.:D

I'm surprised about that too...I guess the folks around here know and care about their neighbors when good sometimes goes bad...

On a related note...last year's flooding that occured during the weekend of 18 Aug. 07 (7 folks died in slides and flooded roads in our area up here...) was "somewhat" similiar, but more intense in the rainfall's time period...IIRC, the rain had started on Thursday night, peaked during the Saturday afternoon/evening, then finally tapered off through the Sunday hours, going into Monday morning...I believe some areas had a peak of 18" during that time...most were around 12"-15" ...

Well, about a week or two after that, we did exactly the same thing...6AM, dancing in Friday morning traffic, and at the end of 12 hours, the La Crosse Center Clowns (US! (The media!)) and I believe there was another two collection centers (Winona, MN. and Viroqua, WI., again...) had collected just over $401,000...

I knew there was a reason I turned down job offers in Madison, Hawaii and elsewhere...this area is really a great place to raise a family...

Posting to this thread early...

I am heading out for the hills in about an hour to go camping... It will be for the rest of the week, and weekend... No internet, and no phones where I am going...

Just me, my dad, and the G-Wagon...

Woohoo! it's Fri-dee again. Celebrating a very important birthday tomorrow, a graduation on Sunday, and hopefully, closing a big sale this morning. I hope everybody has a terrific weekend.

Crap, have to fly to Maui for about one hour of work, then, if the rental car is any fun, see what it can do up the summit. :D
