if you were a college student and had the choice of one place to study abroad, where?

As I begin my second year at College, I will soon have to decide if and where I would like to study abroad. The choice is pretty much up to me and funded completely by the school. Usually they want some reason for picking the place. For instance, Classics majors often go to Italy. Many kids I know seems to like Italy, and there are obvious reasons why a Classics major would go to Italy. I can pretty much pick anywhere, then I find a school there that offers some sort of program, which most colleges and universities do, then I find a reason to go there. So far I am considering some of the Scandinavian countries, Italy, Germany, or maybe even Isreal. I am majoring in Religion with a minor in Biology and Chemistry.

I would like a place that would be fun as a college student, which means attractive women and good attractions.

Just curious since I am still undecided where I want to study abroad. FYI, this would be during the first semester of my junior year but I make my decision first semester of sophomore year then apply to the school I want to study at during the second.

Also, which would be better. Living arrangements with a native family or in the dorms? I am currently leaning towards the dorms since I would be more emersed in activities of kids my age. Most schools offer both to visiting students.

Thanks
David

Fore me, it would be Italy or France because I was an art major and those places are the best. Congrats on being able to do this, I wouldn't go to Isreal now.....

as an architect, the only choice is rome.

i have been there three times and would go back in a heartbeat. i had the pleasure of living there for over a month. i actually worked there too for a firm owned and run by an american. 1973. learned how to use the metric system to dimension drawings in about 20 min. easy. makes you wonder why we resist it so much in the us.

great looking gals and cars, too.

I actually was considering Israel. I chose against it because of the climate and atmosphere. From their tourism webiste, it seems that most of their visitors are there on religious pilgrimages, etc. It doesn't seem like the sort of atmosphere that I am looking for though I did look more closely into Tel Aviv.

TheDon, I don't know what school you want to go to but I don't think many schools send a lot of kids abroad. At my school it is understood that you study abroad unless you really don't want to. Most schools do offer some sort of joint program with a foreign university.

I will look into Norway.

Thanks for the ideas and please keep them coming.

David

If I go abroad, it will be to China. I'm a business major. Europe is the past, I'll visit Europe when I am older and have already made my money. Europe sounds like a great place to play.

But I'm there to learn, and to do business, China is the future. There are fortunes being made there.

When I graduate Rutgers I'll most likely be going to London School of Finance and Economics. They have the best Finance school in the world...literally. This is why I'm keeping my GPA around the 3.95 mark so hopefully I can be considered. Most programs at that school are all over the world, so you might do 3 months in China, 3 months in Japan and the rest in London.

Good Luck

Go tropical where clothing is optional and you can pick your food growing outside your window.
