Send me your e-mail address and I'll send you over a simple CLEANUP program that my cousin sent me a while back. I had some type of trojan one time that nothing would remove (Norton, McAfee etc) and I ran this program which took care of it. Actually you might be able to get it from their site at http://cleanup.stevengould.org/.

It is not some type of adware/spyware crap but it will clean up anything. Well, thus far my total cleanup says it got rid of 1.5 gig worth of stuff in the 25 times I ran it. It's a really simple program.

Good luck.

by the way, I have the 4.0.0.0 Version.

I ran this on my dad's comp and it runs so much quicker, especially when surfing the net.

everybody is switching to MACs all of the sudden. My friend just bought one about two weeks ago...I'll stick to my regular PC. I know them in and out and I have never really had too many issues.

I took your advice and downloaded that program. It cleaned up nearly 1GB on this machine and it does run faster online.

Thanks for the info.

Nice. I run the program once a month or so. The first time I ran it, it made such a huge difference....it was like night and day when surfing the net.

Firefox has been hanging on a regular basis........at least 15 times per day. Usually takes five or six clicks to break it loose.

I'm hoping that the program will cure this.

No hang in the last hour.............:scholar:

im going to download it as soon as iTunes is finished downloading all of the tv shows i bought 5 hours ago... i wish i was on gigabit ethernet...

kamil 09-23-2006 08:14 PM

make sure you guys go to OPTIONS prior to running it and set it to your specifications. Here is mine....in the GENERAL TAB on the left I have it set to STANDARD CLEANUP....that is all.

Sometimes I get that same issue as well with FireFox. Maybe it's a bug in the browser itself.

Wow!
I lost my HD two weeks ago. So, I bought 2 300gig SATA drives and configured RAID1. Last weekend was spent just loading the OS and other programs. I spent some time on the net this am.

This program found over 11,000 files to delete in the short time this pc has been configured! And the PC works fine without all those files!

I am downloading this on my laptop shortly and on my work pc on Monday. I bet my laptop shows an immense improvement in speed.

Thanks for the link!!!!!

Just be careful and read all the WARNINGS. I'm sure there will be a bad apple in here where it deletes important files. :)

It works great for me though.

TheDon 09-24-2006 12:36 PM

on the demo it said it could free up 4.5 gigs but when i did the actual cleanup id cleaned out 1.5 gigs.. aww man

Does your computer run any faster? I usually DEFRAGMENT the drive as well after all the files have been deleted.
