Aha! I, for once;) , agree with you, because the "welfare" programs encurage having more babies and sitting back and collecting a handout. I'll never forget, when I used to work sixty plus hours a week, one night I went to a local watering hole where my "friends" were getting sloshed. This one woman was sporting a wad of cash and buying drinks for everyone. She had just quit her job at a bank and gone on welfare. She came from a well to do family, and had a brand new Accord. She explained that, amongst other things, she got over $600 a month in food stamps. Her mom would give her the cash, and then go to another county to spend the food stamps out of fear of being seen. The cash, was play money to her, thus the free rounds of drinks for her friends. I bought my own, to me that was dirty money.

Meanwhile, I had my paycheck in my pocket, I hadn't been able to find time to go to the bank for three days. I always set a two drink limit in bars, because paying $6 or $7 per drink plus tip in a smoke filled sports bar wasn't my idea of fiscal responsability.

Show me one, just one, second generation immigrant on welfare. Poor white people lead the list at 40%. Hispanics are around 17%.

Get real dude! How about a school system turning out dropouts by the grade level whose motivation in life is to have kids, and go on welfare like their aunt and granny etc do. Not to mention the mother.

You didn't mention anything about "wetbacks." The statistics don't lie. The school system doesn't equally disseminate apathy. 40% of welfare recipients are poor white folk. It might be different in some states due to racial composition. If that number seems uncomfortable to you then I suggest you don't look any further.

I could show you dozens, if not hundreds where I live. On the cases where I get appointed PD for pro bono credit, I have represented several second generation welfare recipients. And although I live in one of the poorest, redneckest states in the Country, I have only represented two white welfare recipients (one was a stripper:D ), although I don't doubt the statistic. The Hispanic statistic is BS, because most of them are undocumented, so they don't qualify for the handouts.

If they don't qualify for handouts then they're not included in that 17% right?

Actually I don't know that. If you answer before I finish editing this post then sorry, you gotta edit yours. Funny how perspectives differ depending on where you live and who lives around you.

Not scared to edit one bit. I think you got the point, but mine was that it may not be a fair comparison when you consider that the numbers may be different if we weren't comparing citizens to eggplants or whatever. Yes, perspectives differ from place to place--however, I would be suprised if you couldn't spit and find a second gen. welfare mom in the Twin Cities. Maybe during the GOP convention you can go to the corral where they will be herded up and check some out:D

Considering that whites make up about 70% of the population I don't doubt that at all.
Nice to know we're under represented in that area :D

Funny how perspectives differ depending on if you are here legally or not:rolleyes:

I don't understand how people always seem to protect the illegals...WTF is wrong with them? If you are here illegally then you should have no rights in this country what-so-ever. Which means cops/citizens should be able to hunt your ass down like animals and ship your a$$ across the border or where ever you came from.

The governor of Louisiana gave me this. Madame Tinkertoy's House of Blue Lights, corner of Bourbon and Toulouse, New Orleans, Louisiana. Now, this is supposed to be the finest whorehouse in the south. These ain't no pork chops! These are U.S. PRIME!

The town will never be the same. After the Tangiers, the big corporations took it all over. Today it looks like Disneyland. And while the kids play cardboard pirates, Mommy and Daddy drop the house payments and Junior's college money on the poker slots. In the old days, dealers knew your name, what you drank, what you played. Today, it's like checkin' into an airport. And if you order room service, you're lucky if you get it by Thursday. Today, it's all gone. You get a whale show up with four million in a suitcase, and some twenty-five-year-old hotel school kid is gonna want his Social Security Number. After the Teamsters got knocked out of the box, the corporations tore down practically every one of the old casinos. And where did the money come from to rebuild the pyramids? Junk bonds. But in the end, I wound up right back where I started. I could still pick winners, and I could still make money for all kinds of people back home. And why mess up a good thing

The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the iniquities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he, who in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who would attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know my name is the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon thee

Feeling religious are we?

"No one holds command over me.
No man. No god. No Prince.
What is a claim of age for ones who are immortal?
What is a claim of power for ones who defy death?
Call your damnable hunt.
We shall see who I drag screaming to hell with me." Anton LaVey

"The world holds two classes of men - intelligent men without religion, and religious men without intelligence."

"ALL religions of a spiritual nature are inventions of man. He has created an entire system of gods with nothing more than his carnal brain. Just because he has an ego, and cannot accept it, he has to externalize it into some great spiritual device which he calls "God"." Anton LaVey

I agree with both of you more or less.

It's not slave labor but the people doing it often work their behinds off for half of what a gringo would need and they struggle like hell to get here. That would be just fine (the struggle part) with me except we've gotten to where we almost need them.

See my earth-shaking thread for more on that.
