Congrats! The point is that he reached those miles MUCH cheaper than any MB would ever do the same...We all just brainwash ourselves, myself included, that MB is such a great car.... when in fact they are high dollar in maintainance compared to other vehicles...

It's embarrasing when my g/f's '00 Ford Focus has had less issues, if any at all than my '95 E320..

Sorry. I dont buy that for a second. If they were high dollar maintenance cars I'd never have been able to own one, let alone four. I've never had one younger than 10 years of age. Of course I'm talking about the real ones. Built when the numbers came before the letters. Cant comment on the stuff the accountants are building now, and I think that includes your E320.

Also. I'd be very interested to know what percentage of Mercedes are still on the road and with what mileage, compared to what percentage of Hondas, Datsun's, Toyota's or whatever asian thing takes your fancy.

If for example you were to find that 25 percent of all 1980 model year Mercedes were still on the road compared to perhaps 52 percent of all 1980 model year Honda's I'd agree that Honda's were superior.

Somehow I suspect I wont be losing any sleep over that thought.

- Peter.

A couple rambling thoughts. We are fixing to turn over 200k on our '97 Honda CRV. All I have done are a couple timing belts, brakes, fluids/filter changes, drivers door check strap, new radiator and both front cv axles. The check engine light has NEVER been on nor has the o2 sensor ever been replaced. The only issues right now are the drivers side rear window regulator is inoperative, the passenger side front door ck strap needs to be replaced and the starter is starting to drag. I suspect the transmission is starting to get a little tired because of the hard shifts. It does not leak anything and there are no unusual noises or squeeks. On the other hand I have just had some dealings with a 2000 S430 that needed a new a/c compre$$or.

If you maintain your Honda like the MB plan recommends it will last a very, very long time. I'm sold on Hondas but unfortunately, they don't have the same character as the 123's.
